Rentals

The Gluckstadt Residential Rental Ordinance was adopted to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of rental properties by establishing minimum standards and guidelines. All residential rental properties must comply with these standards to maintain occupancy licenses.

The ordinance outlines the following:

General Standards: Minimum requirements for property upkeep.
Rental License Requirements: Licensing and renewal process for rental property owners.
Inspections and Fees: Required property inspections and associated fees.
Responsibilities and Maintenance: Owner and tenant responsibilities for property upkeep.

Each unit must pass an inspection whenever it’s vacated and prior to being re-occupied.

Annual Rental License Fee: $150.
Inspection Fee: $250 for a single occupancy inspection.
Reinspection Fee: $250 per reinspection.

Anyone who owns a single-family home, duplex, townhome, or other residential rental property (except multi-family units) for rent in Gluckstadt must provide a $15,000 bond per unit. This bond must be filed with the City to receive permission to rent or lease the property.
