Office of the City Clerk

Appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, the City Clerk's Office oversees the collections of all City funds and is the Chief Financial Officer for the City, managing the City's operating budget and day to day operations, under direct supervision of the Mayor. The City Clerk's Department also serves as the custodian of the City's official seal and is the keeper of the official minutes, ordinances,  resolutions and additional public records, relating to the functions of city government.

Tax Collection

The City of Gluckstadt currently has an agreement with the Madison County Tax Collector to collect all City taxes. 

Voter Registration and Municipal Elections

The City Clerk's office serves as the voter registrar for the City.  Voter registration forms are available at City Hall.

The next municipal election cycle will be held in 2025 for the City of Gluckstadt.

Privilege and Transient Vendor Licenses

All businesses and transient vendors (for profit), located within the City of Gluckstadt, must secure a Privilege License prior to opening a business. Business licenses must be renewed annually, notice is provided by the City thirty (30) days prior to renewal date. 

Accounts Payable and Receivable

All invoices or claims incurred by the city are paid from this office. Claims are approved by the Board of Aldermen on the second (2) Tuesday of each month. The office collects and/or bills for all funds due to the city.

Human Resources and Payroll

This office serves as the City's Human Resource Officer and handles all personnel and payroll related functions for city employees.

Fixed Assets

This office serves as the City's Fixed Asset Manager, accounting for all property and assets purchased by the city.

Purchasing

This office serves as the City's Purchasing Clerk, overseeing state purchasing law and administering internal policies related to compliance; additionally, advertising and securing of bids.

The City Clerk's Office is currently responsible for all communications, press releases, website and social media updates for the city.
